Good old Steinbug, Cubase 'lost' the ability to import Atari files supposedly with Cubase SX, though it worked fine through to SX3 though they must have realised this and made sure it was broken in Cubase 4 onwards.

Hows that for loyalty to long term customers (Don't get me started on that though...)

Good to see your up and running though :D

NVDI is a piece of software that replaces some of GEM's old slower routines with new faster and compatible ones. This makes things like screen redraws faster and use less CPU time as a result.

Quick tip if you want to transfer arrangements from a newer version of Cubase or another sequencer into Cubase for Atari, save or export them as MIDI files and transfer them to the Atari on a floppy (Remember that unless you have a TT, Mega STE or Falcon, the likelihood is that your machine will only read 720K double density disks and not 1.44MB disks). MIDI files are a cross platform standard and will load into just about any sequencer.

i was really hoping that i could transfer ARR files directly from cubasis to cubase lol, sounds like this could be a bit annoying as i really dont want to link the laptop upto atari via midi hehehehehehe that could be a night mare,
i've never used a midifile in my life, can i just transfer them and start using them right away, or do i have to deconstruct them in some way? i didnt use the same gear, so i dont want synth parts being played by something odd like bass sound or piano hehehehehe.

MIDI files are easy enough, under file there should be either a save as or export option and it is somewhere under those (been a long time since I used Cubasis on the pc). Just make sure you save the file with a filename the ST can understand, 8 character name and the file extension should be mid

In Cubase you need to highlight the main track part and place the L and R markers at each end of the part file (press Alternate+P). Go into the Structure drop down menu and select Remix. This will unpack the instrument parts back on to their original tracks, so you can edit them again more easily etc. A SMF MIDI file unpacked like this is a type 1 file, whereas the type 0 is all packed into one multi channel track.
