Hi Sean and welcome back to the Atari and Cubase! You are in good company as I wasted 11 years with the PC, but have finally given up for now and returned to something that works and very well at that.
The easiest way to do this if you are new to ST emulation, is to download a ready made disk image file and use a program to transfer this to a real floppy disk.
Cubase v2.0
http://planetemu.net/index.php?section= ... &id=511995 *DISK 1 OF 2*
http://planetemu.net/index.php?section= ... &id=512000 *DISK 2 OF 2*
Floppy Image (use this to load the two image files one at a time and transfer to floppy disk)
http://www.8bitchip.info/atari/floimgd.php
You basically just click on the big floppy icon and then click the 'Open another image file'. Click on 'Image to floppy' and wait while it puts Cubase onto your real floppy disk, which as you may know should be a Double Sided Double Density type or DSDD. The program will automatically format it for you if you have the option ticked.
I hope you can understand the basics of this, otherwise just ask!

Re: Cubase V2
Hi and thanks for that, i will try it out and see what happens lol, pc cubase has driven me nuts, i thought it might be the same, but the lag between playing a note and hearing it is scary, after using ste + cubase for eons, pc is annoying to the nth degree, so i decided to go back to ste and have a nice nights sleep
Re: Cubase V2
If you are using Windows to transfer files and don't have an Atari with a high density disk, there is an article here that explains how to format floppy disks that your ST will be able to read.
Just format the floppy, then copy the contents of the downloaded zip file to it, then put it in your Atari

Re: Cubase V2
Hi Again,
i have noticed a few people on here saying that they are using a modern monitor instead of the standard atari B/W version, can anyone tell me how, at the moment i am still waiting for my atari to arrive so i can hook everything back in, i found out my old one which i had stored wouldnt fire up lol, so i decided to trawl evilbay and get another, so can i do it with a standard flat monitor any and all help will be greatfully accepted.

Re: Cubase V2
You need a cable such as these; one with audio, the other without:
Ebay auction number: 390236060251
Ebay auction number: 320526274539
Someone may point you elsewhere to a cheaper version, or made by a forum member etc. Mine came with one of my SYE computers, so I was lucky but I think I will buy another at some point.

just a thought, but i used to use a tv back in the day connected to the atarie ste, can i not do the same now? use the tv output from the atari to the aerial input on the flat tv i have? or is there something about the modern tv's i dont know about lol, its just a thought, sine i dont want to have to pay out for a flat screen monitor.
been so busy not had a chance to set anything up lol this is a nightmare for me.

Re: Cubase V2
You could do this, though to use Cubase you would need a Mono mode emulator, which works just fine, though on a TV the display will be very blurry. With the cable mentioned above, you will be able to connect the STe to a VGA monitor using mono mode, which will be just fine for Cubase.
A TV with a modulator will be just fine for games, while the VGA High resolution mode will be just for for Cubase, Notator or just about anything else that either requires or runs best in mono mode.

Re: Cubase V2
There is a forum for mentioning stuff for sale, though it does tend to get used for linking to eBay sales rather than for stuff actually for sale here. In that respect, eBay does offer a kind of security and audience that would not really be possible here without considerable time and investment.

Re: Cubase V2
So long as they were created with the same or earlier version of Cubase, they should work just fine after being transferred from PC to Atari on floppy. I think you may also get away with it with files created on newer Cubase versions when it comes to ARR files, though to be honest I've not tried this.
As for the GEM version, that was the same on all ST's right up until the Mega STE, TT and Falcon, which had some enhancements to the GEM interface. Unless your ST has TOS 2.0X it will be the same GEM version that shipped with the first ST's in 1985.
Having said that though, you can enhance it with NVDI (Available as a download here btw)

Re: Cubase V2
lol ok its a bit involved, but, i originally created them using cubase 2 on atari, and about a year or so ago i opened them in cubasis v5 on my laptop, unfortunately a lot of the files were corrupted so i only recovered about 1/4 of them, i then used cubasis to bring the songs i had made update, and now i've got fedup with the headache that is pc music making and go back to my atari lol so basically i'll be taking the old files and new ones back to my atari. i am keeping my fingers crossed, plus going to look for a usb floppy drive lol on evilbay.
also whats this nvdi?
