a not very optimistic thread about vintage dongles

Post by cheeky_robin »

Hi all
Is it just me or does anyone else fear the future of these vintage dongles. Without them, all the softwares are completly useless. for example cubase3 will just show a "no key, good bye" - "ok" sign and you're showed the door. These dongles are just little bits of plastic and thin (probably rusty somehwere) pins of metal. Seriously, how much life have these things got I never take it in/out, If I did that all the time I would get worried. Or are they built to last?

Fear not there are plans afoot...

Over at www.atari-forum.com simbo is analysing my Cubase 3 dongle to see how it could be re created, though I've not had an update on that for a while.

If you go there and hop to the falcon/TT/clones professionals section, there is a thread in there called Cubase dongle clone (or similar, I can't quite remember) and there is more info there.

And just to make finding it easier, a link to the thread is here for those interested in following the cloning idea.
