I have a MIDEX+ that I got for £17 on Ebay last year, although despite Cubase having a Falcon driver for it, the bad news is that it does not work fully or so I read on the net.

OK, just saw a post on Atari-forum.com about this: http://www.atari-forum.com/viewtopic.ph ... x+#p173859

Waxjoz said "Someone told me long ago, the Midex needed a hardware modification to work completely on a Falcon. But no one could tell me how."

Does anybody have confirmation of that information?

For the falcon I would get a soundpool mo4 and wither a MIDI merge and/or a midiman macman midi interface. For the soundpool Barrie may be able to help (Barrie@keychange.co.uk) but the midiman interfaces may well be eBay only, though freecycle has been good to me in the past.

I enguired about this a while back when I was looking at getting a MIDEX+ to replace my MIDEX. I remember seeing a circuit diagram many moons ago though I cannot tell you what was involved, though I was also told there was a small risk of damaging th Falcon if the mod was done wrong and that it did not always work.

One thing I can say is that the MIDEX does not work at all, other than as a key expander.

The reason the MIDEX & MIDEX+ have issues with the Falcon is that the cartridge port has a few tweaks and changes regarding addressing on the port, and the MIDEX units don't work with this. There is a similar issue with the TT, however this appears to have been addressed with the creation of a new driver.

Bare in mind though that I have not tried the MIDEX with a TT, at the time the TT was on loan for exhibitions so I rarely saw it.

I did mention it didn't work earlier but that was missed, but yes it is a shame. There is the smp24 but that is pretty pricey!

Like I said earlier, the mo4 is your best bet and if you need more MIDI inputs, a midi merge box or a midiman macman mini for an additional input

For what I see here the MO4 have 4 MIDI OUT and 1 Parallel port. So it is sending the MIDI data through the Parallel port, right? Do you have to do anything special on Cubase to do it? No latency?

Works fine for me here, the driver is on the Cubase audio page in the featured articles/falcon audio software, just in case someone gets an interface with no driver (like I did)

Also if you do get one, make sure it has a cable
