Re: About how digital music should be sold
Yes, is quite an interesting concept. I know lots of people who download music (I mean pirate music) and when I ask them why they don't pay for it, most of them tell me that when it's a small or local band they always buy. I wonder what would happen when a small/local band becomes a big band, will they stop buying?
As Module pointed in his blog, offering free download is indeed a good way of getting a fanbase, and offering "name your price" downloads is maybe a good idea for getting some income for your music. The problem is how many people will really be paying, and how many people will download it and then put it on a torrent for free. Most of the professional musicians get they revenue by doing concerts, but for small musicians this is far away from their possibilities.
