I would, personally, got dor either an S900/S950 or go strait for an S3000 series. Why? The S1000 or S1100 has no resonant filters, and I find that anoying. The S950 has no resonant filters, but it's 12bit makes it sound nice.

So, if you are going to go into a 16bit Akai, might has well go with something less limiting than the S1100.

That's my 2 cents.

The thing is, I already have a Roland S-750 sampler, so resonant filters are taken care of there and I've never really used or owned an Akai sampler. I remember seeing the S1100's being used on a tour just as they were released in the UK, but didn't have the money for a second hand Akai S700, never mind a new S950, S1000 or S1100.

Still, if I'm honest I have many other things I could do with the money these days, but if you look at his other items, he does have more music and Atari related stuff on offer.

If the price doesn't go crazy, I would said that for that price you cannot loose. You could even later sell the ZIP drive. I have seen those drives been sold quite expensively, so you could even recover the money spent on the S1100.

The guy is funny with the floppy thing... I fixed my S950 floppy drive last night and I'm happy about it... Finding a replacement drive for the Akais is a PITA, and are very expensive.

Zip drives are practical for sure... I usually find them for 20$ Canadian here on local adds. I have one connected to my S-550 (rare scsi adapter on it!), one for my E-Synth (which eventually I will replace with a setup for compact flash). I need to find another one 'cause a friend of mind, who is a synth tech, found me the scsi card for it.

Can't you find a more affordable zip drive on local adds?
