pitch bend without midi keyboard

Post by cheeky_robin »

Ok this is for a friend (who I met via youtube.. http://www.youtube.com/user/AnthonyDavid94 ) I've basically took him on as my student  and helped him out with 1 or 2 things, I don't want to sound rude to him and say - you'd go far with a midi board why you not got one yet?
so um, yeah. I think he uses version 2.00. I have 3.1 with the bible and it doesn't even mention in there if you can draw in pitch-bends without a board so... anyone know? as soon as I'll know I'll be telling him ASAP!

This is easiest done in the key editor, in the lower section of the editor window there is an area for entering values. Make sure you have the pencil tool selected in the Key edit window and then click on the bottom left to select the type of editing you want to do (It will bring up a list of parameters you can edit, select pitch bend from the list). The area below the key edit grid should then be empty, with a line running along the middle, this is your 'Zero point' on the pitch bend wheel. If you hold the shift key, you can click in the lower area to draw a pitch bend curve. Once you have data in there you can edit it without the need for pressing the shift key, that's only needed for adding new data.

EDIT: I could have been wrong there, in the car this morning I began thinking it may have been the ALT key rather than shift...

hey! thanks for the quick reply!

and oh yes!!! thanks, I tried it last night, but it didn't seem to do much, so I thought, I wonder if he meant the alt key cuase I got it to work then, and now just seen your edit. awesome, I will tell him, but that's useful for me to know as I'll be using it now too. I also see the line tool works and you can set different resulution with the Snap. 8-)

I think musicians using Ataris stay in hiding. I have a friend who has a music store her in Montreal, and while we were talkin and I was saying how proud I was using Ataris again (like in the past), he told me I wouldn't believe the number of musicians still using them here, they just don't talk about it because it's not "hot" as saying "I have a ProTools HD *, or Nuendo".

It's a small community of musicians here, and he knows a lot of them (as I also did 20 years ago), and I know he ain't lying.

So, this could explain the lack of activity here.
I can't * about anyone NOT active in forums 'cause I'm the first one not to be active. I just don't have much time. I'm choosing a very few with fun people with whom I have common interests to exchange tips, tricks, problems.
That could even end with a collaborative song ne day, who knows.

I saw somewhere that Cubase 2.x can use the Unitor 2 by rename some kind of MROS driver. Did any of you tried that? Does Cubase support SMPTE?

There is only one thing weird, and thats having a MIDI studio WITHOUT at least ONE Atari in there!

I have an idea for a viral campaign on YouTube!

And give away all my secrets?

All I will say for now is that I've secured filming equipment and editing facilities in return for doing audio mixing at some live venue's.

A fair exchange is no robbery as they say...

If it involves girl-on-girl-and-Atari action, I don't mind waiting for the surprise. ;)

Erm, no sorry. I'd need a license and council approvement to do stuff like that.

Could be worse though, could be a screenshot by screenshot walkthrough of Sam Fox strip poker on the spectrum

Samantha Fox (Sam Fox) was a page 3 topless model for the Sun Newspaper here in the UK. The first one to have celebrity status too, currently has a singing career, though she is currently only big in Japan. She did try singing here in the UK while she was still famous, however the general public didn't take to her doing that, and to be honest the songs were pretty poor even by late 80's standards!

Had she been given some decent material to work with, who knows but generally she is better known in this country for her modeling.
