maxyMiser sync as slave
maxyMiser sync as slave
I'm trying to sync maxyMiser as slave with cubase, for example. But it didn't work.
MaxyMiser seams to play everything much faster.
Cubase send midi timeclock and midi clock. at 30 bmp.
MaxyMiser start playing at maybe 300 bpm.
In maxyMiser Midi Ctrlrs is enabled and in the normal panel I switch interruption to midi. Have I forgot something?
thank for help

Re: maxyMiser sync as slave
I've not had chance to download or try maxYMiser so I can't really guess at what could be causing this, unless it's something simple like SMPTE sync or something like that.

Yeah, contact gwEm and share with us whatever information you get. That idea of yours about sync maxYMiser with Cubase, seems like a very interesting thing to have.

Re: maxyMiser sync as slave
MaxYMiser don't support SMPTE, just MIDI clock.
I had a problem with my midi patchy. It's midi timepiece (MTP AV) from make of the unicorn. That's the reason way the synchronization failed with midi clock.
Now I connect the MegaSt direct to the falcon and now it work fine.
Does anyone have an idea what's wrong with the midi timepiece?
thanks
chris

Ooh, very odd. Mind you some early MIDI patchbays which could be controlled by MIDI data had trouble with sysex dumps and timing critical data, sysex because of the sheer volume of data and timing stuff because it could upset the data sequence and introduce delays.
I assume it was all working ok if you just played a keyboard and recorded the output (Or sent it to a sound module)?

Re: maxyMiser sync as slave
So, correct me if I'm wrong, the idea is that you connect through MIDI 2 Ataris (one running maxYMiser and another running Cubase) and then from Cubase you can kick the maxYMiser to play/stop patterns, so at the end you could mix the audio of the two Ataris and have mixed composition?

Re: maxyMiser sync as slave
In theory you could sync 2 computers, 1 running a MIDI program controllong synths, samplers and stuff like that and a second running another program which could be a sound source or another MIDI program controllong another bank of synthesizers. The MIDI Time Control should lock the 2 computers to the same tempo and position in their relative song files so that everything on the 2 computers plays at the correct time, even though they are running different programs controlling different things.atarisince1989 wrote:So, correct me if I'm wrong, the idea is that you connect through MIDI 2 Ataris (one running maxYMiser and another running Cubase) and then from Cubase you can kick the maxYMiser to play/stop patterns, so at the end you could mix the audio of the two Ataris and have mixed composition?
In practice it usually works really well, but if I were doing it I'd have 2 Atari's connected with the built in MIDI for sync and use an external interface for any external MIDI gear.

Malcom, sorry I don't quite get it. I'm thick sometimes . What kind of external interface? Then the MIDI Ataris and the MIDI gear will be independent and not connected between them?mal7921 wrote:In practice it usually works really well, but if I were doing it I'd have 2 Atari's connected with the built in MIDI for sync and use an external interface for any external MIDI gear.

Re: maxyMiser sync as slave
I don't know exactly, but the MTV AV is not the cheapest midirouter.mal7921 wrote:Ooh, very odd. In the mean time I checked out some other synchronizations.
Cubase to cubase,
Mandala to cubase,
pulsar to cubase.
It all works fine with the midirouter. Only with maxYMiser I have problems.
Have maxYMiser a midi thru funktion?

Yes, that's right.
