so my evil floppydrive has decided to murder my system disk

Post by cheeky_robin »

akai s2000. the floppy drive is a MISUMI D359T5

the system disk was an official one, the only reason I took the floppy drive out was to (and I know this sounds crazy) to take the bezel off, paint it white [it was black].
haven't put the hood on the s2k yet but just checked it now. with the 34 pin and power lead correctly in. it just doesn't load!! it stops while the display says '* insert s2000 system disk *'
The spinny thingie below spins for about 1 second then it stops. I don't think it's the drive though. I don't have another drive or disk to check out so I.... pffft. Don't know what to do.

has it murdered my disk just by touching it!? god *! is there a way of using white spirit on this disk? I'm in a hurry I'm not ebaying for a new system disk!

As I remember, there used to be an online repository of Akai system disks, though I can't remember where. I think googling for free Akai sample libraries may come up with something. Sadly I use Roland samplers, so can't really help any more than that
The collection:

Atari 260ST, 520ST, 520ST+, 520STfm, STacy, Mega ST2
Atari STe, Mega STE, ST Book
Atari TT030, with 2GB Hard drive
Atari Falcon, 14MB, 40GB IDE drive
Atari Megafile 44

The website and the Atari bit
