Amstrad CPC and chipmusic

Post by atarisince1989 »

Since I was 8 years old I'm owner of an Amstrad CPC myself. I started with a CPC464 and then I got the CPC6128. The same I still have nowadays!

Back in the days I wasn't too much into music, I dedicated my time essentially to play games and to programming (BASIC, of course ), but recently I discovered a very good piece of software: STarKos.

It is very good, and there is even a version for Windows systems, called Arkos.

I'm planning to do some chipmusic as soon as I get some free time, but I thought it would be nice to share this with you.
My toys:
- Atari 520 STE 4MB RAM TOS 2.06 + UltraSatan
- Atari Falcon030 (running SpareMiNT+TeraDesk) 14MB RAM TOS 4.04 + 4GB Microdrive & external CF slot + NVRAM mod + SCSI buffer clock mod + EtherNEC
- Amstrad CPC 6128 + HxC USB Floppy Emulator

My first computer was the Spectrum 128K, which had the same sound chip in it, though I had my eyes on the world of MIDI when I was upgrading. My intention was to upgrade to a Spectrum +3 for the disk drive, but Atari dropped the price of the ST so it was only about 50 pounds more than the Spectrum was.

From that point, I got a DX100 and a copy of Pro24, and kept on going from there.

Anyhow, back to the topic in hand. Please do feel free to upload any tracks you finish onto the Live player :D

Good luck with it

Yes, my idea is, as soon as I finish my uni's exams in October, take a rest until next year and do some serious music. I would like to publish some kind of EP. May the force be with me :)

We're up again at the end of November, can't miss the Christmas stuff :) Mind you, I think we will venture out of the hotel for a drink this year at least once, I'd like to get more than 2 drinks for £15 this year!

Well it was our fault for staying in the travelodge bar, but balls of steel was on and we can't miss Neg with his urban sports and the annoying devil, especially with his car of evil
