Master Tracks Pro question

Hi all,

I have what I believe may be the original version of MasterTracks Pro for theAtari 1040ST (circa late '80s / early '90s) and I'd like to be able to bring my old sequences (stored on diskettes) into the new millenium. The diskettes are not readable by my current Mac and only one of the sequences was stored in the General MIDI format.

Is there any way to convert / bulk convert these diskettes / sequences so that they are readable by a modern computer?

I am using a Macbook Pro Retina running OS 10.9.5 but I also have a number of other computers including a PC running Windows XP. I have a functioning Atari 1040 (no hard drive) and could potentially convert them one by one but I'm not sure how I should format the diskettes or even on which device I should format them.

Hi, to be honest I have similar issues with Cubase files and the only reliable way for me is to use one of the old Atari's (Usually the TT or the Falcon as they can read all the disk formats used on the ST).

USB Floppy drives do not have all the old Floppy chip protocols built into them, so cannot be used by the floppy emulator systems that were used a few years ago. THere were one or two USB floppy drives that would work, but these were expensive and no longer available.

It may well sound a convoluted way of doing it, but it may be best to pick up an old STfm off ebay or ask around if there is someone local to you who still has an old ST knocking around in the attic.

I own a USB floppy drive which works very well, even with 720kB disks:

You can find them on ebay quite often for a few Euros.

This drive was also sold as OEM product e.g. by Fujitsu and then has the model number FPCFDD12.
You can have a ton of them, mostly for less than 10 Euros.
