Program Change in Cubase??
Program Change in Cubase??
Yo dudez.
Where to set Program Change in Cubase, if I wanna use an old synth with only 8-9 channels?
I've got a Roland MT-32 (from 80s). An interesting device but I wanted to change instruments while playing.
Was it in GRID section? (In Cubase 3 this section was called LIST, if I recall)?
I know number of value (128 values from General Midi) but what more? Any hints? Screenshots would be MOST welcomed.
Thx & byez,
Yerz

Re: Program Change in Cubase??
Wow I have not used any Program Change commands since the mid to late 1990s! Anyway yes the GRID editor holds all the data types including PC and SysExc. Personally I prefer to use SysExc data as it is processed faster and hence less latency etc.
It's been a while so my memory is hazy but you can drag the dividing bar on the main arrangement page, this will reveal the Prg column (1-128 range). In the GRID editor you can click on 'Ins.' underneath the Function icon and select Program Change. You can alter the value and MIDI Channel on the same line too. On the far right you can quickly draw with the pen to change the values faster.
There is a dedicated Mixer panel which may work with your version of Cubase; I have included it here for you to try. A quick Google found this MT32EDIT.MIX file here http://www.mmnt.net/db/0/0/ftp.steinber ... aps/ROLAND
I've been tempted a few times to buy the MT-32 from Ebay to have a bit of fun with.

Re: Program Change in Cubase??
Thanks a lot, I managed to do it somehow, heheh.
Well, I have to use this command because I have got a very old Roland, that can play only 8 instruments + drums, so at least I can change instruments one by one, if they cannot play at once, haha.
Will upload the songs next month (they go to Silly Venture Atari Party, to Wild Compo, hehe).
Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: Program Change in Cubase??
OK - to NOT to make thousands separate threads, I will stick with this one.
I got myself a little funny synth from 1992. Sounds nice but so-called "thrift" and sh*tty economy caused idiotic thing.
The Yamaha has numerous features "inside", in the motherboard, but they're NOT led to the front panel at all.
Hence - I would like to operate in the GRID (LIST) section of Cubase.
My question is - what to write, how to "enable" commands like
- sustain pedal
- volume
and so on.
Pliiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiz heeeeeeeeeeeeeelp!
_______________EDIT__________________________
OK, I can see that controller #64 = sustain pedal
but if You know any additional stuff (how to on/off??) then the help would be appreciated anyway).

Re: Program Change in Cubase??
If my memory is correct when using Program Change messages for Sustain Pedal, values of 0 to 63 = off and 64 to 127 = on. Which model is your Yamaha anyway? I own MU100R with six PLG boards, SY55, TG55, RY30 and RM50.
Re: Program Change in Cubase??
Hi,
thanks, I will be testing it.
I make chiptune/micromusic stuff, so it's a small YAMAHA PSS-51.
Regards.
