SAMPLER for Atari ST

Post by yerzmyey »

Hi.

Today I managed to buy a sampler-interface for Atari ST.

There is some diskette with sotware attached. I wonder what will it be.
I hope the samples will be compatible with ST(e) programs like ProTracker ST and others.

So long as the sampler software can save in the correct format there won't be any issue there. Most samplers of the time could save in all the more common formats and the trackers could likewise import most of the common formats as well. The most important thing is to get the right sampling frequency, (Which as I recall was 32KHz except Microdeal Quartet which used higher frequencies than the more regular trackers of the day).
The collection:

Atari 260ST, 520ST, 520ST+, 520STfm, STacy, Mega ST2
Atari STe, Mega STE, ST Book
Atari TT030, with 2GB Hard drive
Atari Falcon, 14MB, 40GB IDE drive
Atari Megafile 44

Thanks for Your notes. I do appreciate it. I will use them surely.
I still thing that MIDI is most important, also synthetic music is OK but still people forget about "sampler-like" possibilities of Atari ST that are really good. :)
Thanks again and best wishes! :)

For a really good 8 bit sampler, the best device I ever used was the Ensoniq Mirage sampler, which was the first true low cost sampler for the masses. However this is an external MIDI sampler.

On the ST I had a few devices including the SoundMaster and STOS samplers, both of which were excellent and easy to use, though of all the devices the STOS Maestro sampler gave the best quality of the 8 bit samplers (Though other peoples personal experience and opinion may well differ), but I had no issue moving or converting sounds for use in trackers back in the day.

I scored a sampler a few weeks ago on eBay, but I am still cleaning my room and trying to fix my Mac, so it has had to wait.

It is the microdeal Replay16. Looks cool, and comes with utilities on disk. No manual, but I probably don't need it.

Please see the sticky topic here in this forum section for my uploaded Replay 16 retail box and contents, which includes the entire ring bound user manual. This took me nearly six hours to do the other week, so download and enjoy!

On a separate subject, whats the issue with the Mac? I'm getting quite good at bringing them back from the dead these days
