Hi there.
Atari ST is mostly used for MIDI music and for chip-music.
We wanted to prove that original ST is nicely available to work as a sampler+sequencer, although it has only 3 channels and 4-bit YM chip.
We've just finished the Atari ST *.MOD compo (digital music, 4-channels, YM chip only), organized for this occasion.
Sadly this time only 3 works appeared but - here they are, also with results - http://yerzmyey.republika.pl/Atari_Head ... s_2010.zip
4 channels come from software-mixing of course which means additional CPU's work.
Of course perfectionists might say that the sound-quality of original ST digital music is much worse than on STe machines - and it is true.
However some people even prefer 4-bit chips because of their specific sound (for instance Nine Inch Nails use 4-bit samples from Casio SK-1 from time to time ).
"Retro" and "Neon Love" come from a project that is beeing prepared, based on original Atari ST digital music by the way (however they will be corrected a bit for the final release). Ah well, this is for the future anyway.
